Stephen Barclay, a Brexit-backing Conservative politician and former City minister, was today appointed as the UK’s new Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union.
Barclay, who previously worked in financial services, including as director of regulatory affairs and head of anti-money laundering and sanctions at Barclays, takes on the role amid a febrile period in Whitehall.
