The record €13.4bn ($19bn) rights issue by Belgo-Dutch bank Fortis will send underwriter Merrill Lynch racing up the global equity capital market league table from sixth to first place.

Merrill is set to leapfrog its rivals in the global equity capital market league table to claim top spot, up from sixth place, following the successful completion of the record €13.4bn Fortis rights issue.
