Four banks to launch electronic trading platform

Bear Stearns, Credit Suisse First Boston, Lehman Brothers and Salomon Smith Barney will launch a new company offering an internet-accessible trading system through a joint venture.

The company will form an electronic trading platform for all types of mortgage and asset-backed securities, with the goal of providing a more efficient marketplace for investors, and cost savings for the industry.
