Letter from Frankfurt: Not the best place to visit, but not a bad place to live

Frankfurt might get the negative reputation it has because although it is a great city to live in, it is not a great city to visit as a tourist

When my wife and I decided to leave Berlin for Frankfurt about seven years ago, some of our friends thought we were crazy.

Why would we want to leave the fun, thriving, exciting, and cheap, German capital for the boring and expensive continental European financial hub along the river Main? The city is dead on weekends, there's no life, we heard. One friend even said the skyscrapers made the city ugly and non-European.
