Franklin Templeton, the $617bn (€436bn) US fund manager, has hired a director in its marketing team in London to boost business from institutional investors as the group looks to expand in the UK.

Darren Cotter, a director of European business at rival fund manager Marathon Asset Management, is joining Franklin Templeton as a marketing director to work with its consulting teams.
