A syndicate of seven French labour unions has urged the country's workers to demonstrate in favour of retaining the status quo on pension benefits in France.

Despite pressure from the European Union and the French government declaring pension reform to be top of its agenda, the unions are adamant that pensions age should stay at 60 with full benefits. The unions also want the right to retire before 60 if they have contributed for 40 years.
