UK life assurer Friends Provident is set to apply its asset management arm Friends, Ivory & Sime's responsible engagement overlay (reo) policy to its main equity investment portfolios.

Using reo, Friends Provident will use its influence as an investor to encourage companies to adopt best practice on social, environmental and ethical issues.
