FSA to ban insurance claims on regulatory fines

The Financial Services Authority, the UK regulator, has proposed new rules that would prevent companies and individuals fined by the regulator from claiming insurance to pay their fines, a move which further extends the boundaries of its powers.

The plans are unlikely to be well received by financial institutions which believe the FSA is already in danger of ruling beyond its remit.
