UK stocks logged modest gains Friday, but were set for a weekly loss even as bank shares rose on reports President Donald Trump plans to dismantle some US regulations on the sector.
The FTSE 100 was up 0.2% at 7,154.78, but the basic materials and telecom groups were in the red. The London benchmark on Thursday rose 0.5% for a second day of gains. It was on track for a weekly loss of 0.4%.
