FTSE 100 climbs, with miners rising after Chinese data

UK stocks pushed higher Wednesday, as mining shares got a lift from data showing growth in manufacturing activity in China, a key market for metals producers.

The FTSE 100 popped up 0.7% to 7,148.15, with all sectors rising as February got underway. For the whole of January, the London benchmark fell 0.6%. The index on Tuesday shed 0.3%, reversing gains after the pound jumped against the U.S. dollar.
