FTSE 100 inches up as pound pulls back

UK stocks rose Tuesday, with a pullback in the British pound providing some relief for blue chips as investors wrap up the first month of trade in 2017.

The FTSE 100 rose 0.3% to 7,137.48, with only the telecom group moving lower. The index on Monday dropped 0.9%, with markets worldwide reacting to US President Donald Trump’s executive order banning citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the US.
