FTSE International introduces capped indices

FTSE International, which runs the FTSE stock market indices, will today announce plans to introduce capped versions of the FTSE 100 and FTSE All-Share indices next month, reports the Financial Times.

The move, triggered by the planned merger between the telecommunications group Vodafone and Mannesmann of Germany, is designed to tackle the problem facing unit trust managers and index-trackers forbidden under EU law to hold more than 10% in any one stock.
