Fund brands matter but returns are key

New research shows that strong brands can boost fund inflows, but will not stop outflows when performance is weak

A strong fund management brand helps boost inflows when performance is strong, but will not stem outflows when returns suffer, according to new research.

The research by ING Investment Management probed the correlation between brand strength and the volume of inflows in nearly 3,000 equity funds marketed by 221 fund management companies.
