Funding Circle begins winding down fund after poor performance

The listed investment trust was launched in 2015 to widen investor access

Funding Circle, the UK’s largest peer-to-peer lender, will wind down its £300m investment trust, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Over two-thirds of the Funding Circle SME Income fund shareholders are in favour of “an orderly wind down”, which means the fund will stop investing in new assets and focus solely on returning capital to investors.
