‘Game changing’ elections trump Article 50 in the City

Looming votes in the Netherlands and France could move the goalposts for banks and their Brexit plans

In the City of London, the official start of Brexit negotiations is taking a back seat to a burst of “potentially game-changing” elections in Europe.

The UK Parliament last night ignored House of Lords amendments to its Brexit bill and cleared the path for Prime Minister Theresa May to trigger Article 50 and two years of exit talks - which could happen this week but is expected closer to the end of March.
