Cross-border advice boosts Nomura in the US

The Japanese bank said last year that cross-border M&A deals, with an Asian component, were central to its global advisory ambitions

Deal knowledge dating back to the 2008 purchase of a US commodity trading and merchandising business helped Nomura move into the top 20 rankings for US merger and acquisitions advice this week.

Omaha-based Gavilon said in a statement yesterday that it was being acquired by Marubeni, one of the largest general trading companies in Japan.
