US mid-market private equity house General Atlantic has boosted its European expansion efforts after appointing a partner at a rival firm to co-head its investments in the region.

John Bernstein has joined from Advent International as a managing director of General Atlantic's London office and will co-head the European side of the business alongside Klaus Esser.
