German cabinet approves hedge fund law

The German cabinet has approved legislation giving hedge funds the opportunity to set up and market their businesses in the country for the first time.

The move is part of an initiative launched by Hans Eichel, the German minister of finance, earlier this year designed to make Frankfurt a leading centre for hedge funds.
