German community shrinks by a third

The number of people working in the private equity industry in Germany dropped last year by 32% – from 1,600 to 1,100 – and more are expected to lose their jobs this year as activity dries up, according to a report.

Figures released by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development show the number of UK private equity professionals also fell, but by only 8%, while the number across the rest of Europe increased (see table).
