Give pensions greater access to private markets, says BlackRock investment boss

BlackRock sees clients increasing allocations to alternatives as they look for higher returns and diversification

Regulation needs to change to allow retail investors and defined contribution schemes access to private markets, according to Edwin Conway, global head of BlackRock Alternative Investors.

Conway, speaking at a breakfast roundtable in the asset manager’s City of London office, said that BlackRock is seeing clients starting to increase their allocations to alternatives as they look for higher returns and diversification.
