Government bonds pounded by inflation fears

Investors worry that the days of ever-looser monetary policy are over

Global bonds sold off on October 17 as investors grow concerned over rising inflation and central banks' willingness to tolerate it.

UK government bonds led the sell-off, with yields on the benchmark 10-year gilt hitting 1.22%, above levels recorded on June 24, the day after Britain voted to leave the European Union.
