Interbrew, the Belgian brewery, has turned to Goldman Sachs and Lazard to explore a possible takeover of South African Breweries (SAB).
Interbrew said in a statement on Wednesday that it "had undertaken a preliminary analysis of SAB as part of its routine annual review of the leading brewers of the world". The company said the analysis was at a very preliminary stage that "may or may not lead to an offer for SAB at some time in the future" and confirmed "that no approach has been made on the matter".
