Goldman hires co-head of research from Merrill

Goldman Sachs has hired a senior member of Merrill Lynch's research team in New York, in a move that should help change the perception that its research is geared more towards corporate clients than fund managers.

The US bank recruited Andrew Melnick, previously director of global securities research and economics at Merrill, to co-head global investment research with Suzanne Nora Johnson.
