Goldman Sachs has reported its first set of earnings under the stewardship of new chief executive David Solomon, who succeeded Lloyd Blankfein in October.

Solomon, a former investment banker, took over a bank trying to move away from its long-time reliance of bond trading revenues by building relationships with more corporate clients. Goldman has also been building its retail banking business, known as Marcus.
