Goldman Sachs names David Solomon as new CEO

Crisis-era chief executive Lloyd Blankfein bows out after 12 years at the top of the Wall Street powerhouse

Goldman Sachs has confirmed its former investment banking boss David Solomon as its next chair and chief executive, bringing the 12-year tenure of crisis-era CEO Lloyd Blankfein to an end.

The bank, which reported second-quarter earnings on Tuesday, said in a statement that Solomon would take over one of the biggest jobs in global finance on October 1.
