Goldman Sachs has agreed to pay $3.9bn to the government of Malaysia in a deal that will see criminal charges dropped against the US bank.
The US banking giant has said that it will pay $2.5bn to the Malaysian state to settle the charges as well as a further payment of at least $1.4bn in proceeds from assets seized by government authorities related to 1MDB, the country's sovereign wealth fund.
