Governance reform sweeps Europe

The region has reacted to scandals in the US by implementing radical changes

The wave of corporate scandals that broke on American shores in 2002 had a considerable ripple effect across the Atlantic.

While US legislators and regulators passed a series headline-grabbing corporate governance reforms, principally the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, a quieter but no less radical series of changes was being implemented in Europe.
