Governance watchdog seeks power to ‘discipline’ bosses

A formal system of fines and disciplinary action for company directors who breach financial reporting rules moved a step closer today, as the UK's governance watchdog set out plans to reform its rulebook.

The FRC said in a February 16 statement that it will carry out a "fundamental review" of the UK's corporate governance code, which sets standards of good practice for company leadership, pay and shareholder relations - and is 25 years old this year.
