The government has said it has not ruled out re-imposing tighter coronavirus restrictions in the UK, amid mounting concern over the spread of an Indian variant of the Covid-19 virus, but it remains committed to removing coronavirus restrictions in the country for now.

Bolton in the UK's Greater Manchester has seen a spike in instances of an Indian variant of Covid in recent weeks.
