Michael Gross, a founder and former senior partner at private equity firm Apollo Management, has joined $3bn (€2.4bn) multi-strategy hedge fund firm Magnetar Capital as a senior partner and co-chairman of its investment committee.

Gross will also serve as chief investment officer for Magnetar's credit and private investment business to help the firm expand its presence in those markets. He will be based in the firm's New York office.
