The UK Chancellor of the Exchequer has urged his European Union counterparts to work towards making financial services part of a future free-trade agreement, building on Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit vision set out last week.

In a speech on Wednesday, Philip Hammond explained why it was crucial for the UK and the EU to collaborate on financial services. Last week, May said not securing a special deal for the City would hurt both regions.
