Hedge funds betting against Hargreaves Lansdown have made a hasty retreat as the fund supermarket continues to weigh up a £5.4bn takeover bid.

Citadel, Marshall Wace and Millennium have closed out their short positions in the platform group since a CVC-backed consortium tabled multiple bids to take the group private, according to regulatory filings.
