HBOS fund profits soar 57% after market recovery

The investment division of UK bank HBOS saw pre-tax profits leap 57% to £442m (€658.6m) despite a rise in costs that included the acquisition of Rothschild's fund management business.

However HBOS said that after financial adjustments and exceptional costs its investment business profits fell from £511m in 2002 to £416m at the end of last year.
