Helena Morrissey, the former chief executive of Newton Investment Management, has joined Legal & General Investment Management to launch a new venture focused on "personal investing" for the digital age.

Morrissey will take up her new role on May 1, reporting to chief executive Mark Zinkula. She says her aim is to "humanise investment" and connect the asset management industry directly to its consumers.
