Hermes' Butler calls for pre-emptive action on company crises

Peter Butler, chief executive of Hermes Focus Asset Management, has called for leading shareholders of companies in crisis to push through changes before they get into deeper trouble.

Butler, speaking at the National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) conference in Edinburgh, pointed out that under a practice known as the London Rules, leading bank lenders to companies occasionally group together in order to force through the necessary changes.
