Alstom, the French transport and power generation group, has hired Hewitt Associates as a preferred global actuary and pension consultant and asked it to set up a defined contribution pension scheme for the company in the UK.

Hewitt has been an adviser to Alstom's £1.4bn (€2bn) UK defined benefit pension fund for four years and will now conduct a full benefit review.
