HIG Capital plans more acquisitions in Brazil

The firm is seeking opportunities in the country despite economic woes and looming presidential election

Miami-based private equity firm HIG Capital is looking for more acquisitions in Brazil, despite the country's tepid economic performance and looming presidential election.

"We announced two acquisitions in Brazil this week and we are looking for more," said Fernando Marques Oliveira, head of HIG in Brazil, in a telephone interview. "Even though the economy is not performing very well, there are sectors that present very interesting opportunities for expansion and profitability."
