Derek Higgs, the former chairman of SG Warburg, who is soon to step down from a directorship of Prudential and chairmanship of its subsidiary M&G, has been made a non-executive director at Allied Irish Banks.

Higgs will remain as a director of the Prudential's internet bank Egg but will be replaced on the Prudential board by Michael McLintock, chief executive of M&G.
