Home secretary Priti Patel will lead a press conference at 5pm today as calls are escalating from police forces for clarity from the government on what is meant by “local” exercise and travel.

Metropolitan police commander Cressida Dick urged the government to give more clarity on what it means when it asks people to “stay local”.
