Housebuilder boss plans charitable trust after bonus backlash

The chief executive of a big UK housebuilder has said he will launch a charitable trust through which he will donate a portion of a contentious bonus to various causes.

Persimmon CEO Jeff Fairburn said in a statement that he regretted the extent to which "controversy" around his bonus had "eclipsed" the FTSE 100 company's performance.
