HSBC has hired eight bankers, including several former staff at Crédit Lyonnais and ING, to strengthen its convertible bond, emerging markets and credit trading teams as part of its drive to expand its global markets business.
The UK bank has hired a four-strong team of convertible bond bankers from Crédit Lyonnais that includes Philippe Halb, the French bank's global head of convertible bonds since 2001. Halb becomes global head of convertible trading and sales at HSBC, reporting to Samir Assaf, head of fixed income product in Europe.
