HSBC economists have revised up their bearish year-end predictions for the pound, as a potential rate rise has influenced the currency more than political events during 2017 — but they warn that this could change next year.

The economists said they now expected the UK's currency to be worth $1.35 at the end of 2017, up from $1.20 they had predicted just under a year ago.
