Greg Guyett will take sole charge of HSBC's investment bank for six months as his co-head Georges Elhedery steps back for a sabbatical, according to an internal note to employees.

Elhedery will take six months out from March to focus on his "own personal development and growth", he told HSBC's global banking and markets staff in a memo seen by Financial News and confirmed by a bank spokesman.
