The executive tasked with investigating serious misconduct and financial crime at HSBC in Europe has quit the UK lender to join rival bank UBS.

Neil Young has been European head of HSBC's global internal investigations group since late 2014, a period during which the bank has been caught up in regulatory probes into the manipulation of foreign exchange markets and breaches of anti money laundering laws.
