HSBC plans UK job cuts

HSBC is set to cut 2,000 jobs in the UK, according to a Dow Jones Newswires report. The cuts will mainly impact back-office functions in the group's retail banking arm, and are part of the 30,000 job reductions that HSBC chief executive Stuart Gulliver announced last year. The 2,000 cuts are set to be officially announced on Thursday, according to a person familiar with the matter.
