HSBC has assembled a team of dealmakers to tackle private markets deals, a growing area of demand in Europe as initial public offerings slump this year.

The UK lender has launched a new private placement initiative, which spans across its M&A and equity capital markets teams, and looks to tap into growing demand for private capital in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as other locations, according to a memo seen by Financial News.
