HSBC recruits ex-Deutsche banker for south-east Asia push

The UK bank wants to increase staff numbers in the region by 10% over the next three years

HSBC has hired the former head of Deutsche Bank’s operations in Singapore as it works to increase headcount in south-east Asia by 10% over the next three years.

Philip Lee, who was chief country officer for Singapore and vice-chair of global banking for south-east Asia at Deutsche before leaving in August 2018, will join HSBC as vice-chair in the region.
