HSBC Ventures, the venture capital arm of HSBC, has been rolled into HSBC Private Equity, the bank's European private equity arm, upscaling the venture arm's investment strategy to refocus on the UK mid-market sector.

HSBC Ventures formerly focussed on the smaller end of the venture capital market, but will now have access to HSBC Private Equity's larger pool of resources. A spokesman for the firm said that it was unlikely that it would look at investment opportunities below £1m (€1.6m).
