Goldman Sachs fund of private equity funds group has created the role of chairman for Philip Cooper, who is currently managing the group's $11bn (€9bn) global assets.

Geoff Clark and Mike Miele have been promoted to global co-heads and co-chief investment officers. All three helped found the unit, part of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, in 1996. The new roles reflect the growth of the eight year-old group.
