Industry leaders push to ease US regulation

A group of high-profile investment bankers, hedge fund managers, corporate chiefs and professors have formed a new independent committee to evaluate whether US capital market regulations are making American companies less competitive than their foreign rivals.

The creation of the think-tank comes as European merger and acquisition activity has outpaced that of the US this year. Asia Pacific M&A, excluding Japan, has also hit record levels while the US market merely shows modest growth.
